In the summer of 1955 at a small Parish Church in the village of Humberston, northern England, Ian Bierley's Mother and Father were joined in holy matrimony. Back in those days cameras and film were nothing like they became and the photograph is one of only a few taken that day at the wedding.

My husband bought a MonoMouse and I have to say it has transformed his life.

About

It all started when...

In 2002 Ian Bierley's mother was diagnosed with glaucoma. She was told that there was nothing that could be done to save her sight and that her best option was to seek help and advice from various visually impaired charities and organizations. They went to some open days and events, but could only find very expensive and complicated devices. With a background in electronics, Ian was sure that he would be able to find a solution on the internet within a few minutes to solve his mother's adversity. To his surprise there wasn't anything that was simple or affordable enough on the market. After a few weeks of research, Ian set out to design and build a magnifier like no other. This was the start of Bierley.com and we have helped tens of thousands of people just like Ian's mother over the past 16 years.

Our business is all about...

Helping people with partial sight to magnify text and be able to enjoy reading and regain their independence. Our products are innovative but simple. They have been designed specifically for people with partial sight, poor coordination, dexterity issues and anyone who may find modern technology confusing.

Our mission...

We aim to help as many people as we can to regain their independence and provide peace of mind by being able to see and read any text. We are achieving this by working with:

  • Visually impaired customers directly

  • Friends and relatives of those with vision impairment

  • Low vision organizations

  • Eye care practitioners

  • Local and state Government

According to the AFB over twenty million Americans experience vision loss. Many, if not most, of this predominately elderly group of people are not aware that there are products out there to help them.
